Dedicate To Continuous Learning !

Continuous learning is a thing which most of the people give a miss. We burn midnight oil to study during schools and colleges, but we drop this habit once we pass out. Very few people keep this habit. This is one of the major difference between successful and unsuccessful people. If I may ask, how many books you read in a year ? Think !!! This question might leave few to head-scratching. Some might be hesitant to answer. Just a handful of people, will be confident to answer this. Only these are the people who learn and study continuously.

A study by Pew Research in America during March 7 – April 4 2016, says 26% of Americans do not read a single book in last year. Some 73% Amercians said they read atleast 1 book last year. Similar studies in other part of world yielded identical findings. This is a alarming figure. People detaching themselves from study or knowledge gain ultimately leads to slowing down of their career growth. Also there are frequent change in technology, which people will not be aware of.

Now a days many version of books are available in the market, like e-books, audio-books etc apart from printed ones. If you are devoid of time due to your long journey to office, go for audio books. This is fantastic way of utilizing your travel time. Get audio-books and just plug in your earphone. That’s it ! Instead of listening to anything else, listen to audio-books and enrich yourself. E-books are also gaining popularity now a days, your read an e-book anywhere on your mobile, laptop or your tab. However printed books are all time favorite of most of people. Choose any way of reading, whichever suits you.

Whenever you read stories of successful people, one thing you will find common in them, their learning habit. They dedicated themselves to continuous learning and improving.

Warren Buffet was once asked about secret of success and he wonderfully described it as, “Read 500 pages like this every day. That’s how knowledge works. It builds up, like compound interest. All of you can do it, but I guarantee not many of you will do it.” Charlie Munger, the vice chairman of Berkshire Hathaway, once said “Warren and I do more reading and thinking and less doing than most people in business.”. Mark Zuckerberg once said “Reading has given me more perspective on a number of topics — from science to religion, from poverty to prosperity, from health to energy to social justice, from political philosophy to foreign policy, and from history to futuristic fiction. This challenge has been intellectually fulfilling, and I come away with a greater sense of hope and optimism that our society can make greater progress in all of these areas.” Stressing the importance of continuous reading Bill Gates said “It is one of the chief ways that I learn, and has been since I

was a kid. These days, I also get to visit interesting places, meet with scientists and watch a lot of lectures online. But reading is still the main way that I both learn new things and test my understanding.”. Likewise here are numerous examples of successful people have extra-ordinary reading habit. This habit really makes a person success by enriching and enlightening him or her with knowledge. This is the key for success in any field. This is also a matter of self-discipline which helps you to keep this great habit.
So I suggest you start making time atleast half an hour to one hour daily for study.
